Land Reuse Success in Middleburg Heights

Medina Creative Housing (MCH) recently celebrated the opening of its new supportive housing facility on Smith Road in Middleburg Heights. Once the site of a long-shuttered YWCA, the Cuyahoga Land Bank demolished the dilapidated structure in the Fall of 2019 to make way for the development of MCH’s housing project. The funding came from an allocation to the City of Middleburg Heights from the Cuyahoga County Property Demolition Program and the Land Bank served as demolition agent on behalf of the City.

Medina Creative Housing is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the development and ongoing management of permanent, affordable housing and quality services for persons with disabilities.

“Medina Creative Housing greatly appreciates our partnership with the Land Bank in demolishing a blighted building which paved the way for a beautiful 16-unit, energy efficient housing development providing developmentally disabled individuals with a home of their own,” says Dianne DePasquale-Hagerty, Chief Executive Officer of MCH. “This project is a true testament to governmental and non-profit organizations working together to enhance the community.”
