It wasn’t that long ago the idea of a modular home would bring up images of a flimsily-built, cookie-cutter dwelling. That is certainly not the case today! In partnership with Unibilt Industries, the Cuyahoga Land Bank broke ground last September on two attractive, modern modular homes on vacant lots in Maple Heights. This project is an innovative pilot program and the first of its kind for the Cuyahoga Land Bank.
The Cuyahoga Land Bank selected Unibilt to construct the homes after extensively researching modular home manufacturing in Ohio. Family-owned and operated for over 40 years, Unibilt is a nationally recognized leader in the modular home industry, having built more than 12,000 homes. Unibilt prides itself on its wide variety of personalized custom home designs, unparalleled craftsmanship, on-time deliveries, and superior customer service.
Unibilt homes are designed and manufactured in modular sections in Southwest Ohio in an indoor, climate-controlled environment where there are no extreme weather delays. The finished modules are then covered and transported to their new location, placed on the foundations, and permanently joined together. Modular home construction has evolved and now produces high-quality structures that are virtually indistinguishable from a site or stick-built house. The homes that Unibilt installed on the Land Bank’s pre-developed sites are three-bedroom, two-bath homes with full basements that are priced under $200,000.
“In partnership with Unibilt, the Cuyahoga Land Bank is creatively addressing the need for more affordable new home solutions in Cuyahoga County,” said Dennis Roberts, Director of Programs and Property Management for the Cuyahoga Land Bank. “We were fortunate to have selected Unibilt for our first foray into modular-constructed homes. Their knowledge and experience were a tremendous plus as we navigated through the process, and we couldn’t be happier with the results.”
“Unibilt was very excited to partner with the Cuyahoga Land Bank to build two homes in Maple Heights and is looking forward to working with the group to build more homes in the Cleveland area,” said Greg Barney, President of Unibilt Industries. Everyone on the Unibilt team was not only impressed with the professionalism of the Cuyahoga Land Bank team and their studied approach to this pilot project but truly enjoyed sharing a mutual passion of creating quality, affordable homes.”
