Land Bank Works with CMHA to Create Two Senior Housing Projects

Cleveland and East Cleveland soon will be home to new, quality housing projects for older residents, thanks in large part to the stewardship of the Cuyahoga Land Bank, the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA), Cuyahoga County and the respective cities.
Ground was broken for both buildings last November. Both are partly funded by Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP2) dollars, that were awarded as part of a $41 million competitive grant received by the Cleveland-Cuyahoga NSP2 Consortium.
In East Cleveland, the $5.3-million Euclid Belmore Building at 14028 Euclid Avenue, designed by LDA Architects, will be a 39-unit apartment house, while Cleveland’s $3.8-million Lee Road Senior Building, designed by Richard Bowen and Associates, will contain 40 units. Both will feature some apartments that meet uniform federal accessibility standards.

“CMHA is pleased to be partners in this outstanding project that will provide quality senior housing in this community, said Jeffrey K. Patterson, acting CEO of CMHA, of the Lee Road Senior Building. Of the Euclid Belmore Building, he said CMHA is “proud to be a part of this collaborative effort to bring this project to fruition.”
Gus Frangos, president of the Cuyahoga Land Bank, noted that the Euclid Belmore Building “adds to the rejuvenation of the community in which it takes place, in addition to serving the senior population.” He added that the site of the Lee Road Senior Building “has long stood as an empty eyesore, ripe for redevelopment. We are thrilled to be a part of bringing new vitality to this community in the form of much needed senior housing.”
