On a beautiful Saturday afternoon in November, a veteran who served in two U.S. military branches was handed the keys to his new home thanks to Ride With Valor, a 501(c)3 public charity founded in 2018.
Veteran Don Thompson, who served for years in the U.S. Army, Navy and Merchant Marines, recently found himself and his two-year-old twin boys on the brink of homelessness as a result of the fallout from the pandemic and losing his job.
Ride with Valor, an outstanding organization dedicated to helping homeless and disabled veterans find housing solutions took notice and recently completed renovations on a single-family home in Bedford Heights that was on the verge of demolition. The home was donated by the Cuyahoga Land Bank and the project was funded through generous donations to Ride with Valor from the Home Depot Foundation, Cuyahoga Land Bank Charities, and other local companies.
“This is our second collaboration with Ride With Valor,” says Gus Frangos, President and General Counsel for the Cuyahoga Land Bank. “We were happy to work with the group again to offer this incredibly deserving veteran and his boys a wonderful home.”
