After numerous foreclosures, liens and, finally, a public nuisance label, the Executive Club complex on Center Ridge Road in Rocky River came tumbling down in late January. The 46,000-square-foot complex, once home to a social and fitness club, was demolished amid cheers from city and businesses leaders and residents who deemed the buildings unsafe.
Bringing the buildings down took years and a lot of cooperation among government and not-for-profit entities, including the Cuyahoga Land Bank. While there are no immediate plans for the property, its location makes it a prime target for potential commercial renovation. “The Executive Club demolition is a great example of collaboration,” says Gus Frangos, President and General Counsel for the Cuyahoga Land Bank. “This demolition will help pave the way for productive use of the land and future economic development in Cuyahoga County.”
