During this season of joy and reflection, I find myself thinking about a popular country song that encourages us to live each day like it’s our last. It’s a reminder to cherish every moment, embrace opportunity, and express your deepest love and gratitude.
Several Biblical passages remind us that we need to keep our priorities right and our accounts short because we are not guaranteed tomorrow.
Living each day as if it were our last could compel us to make peace over small and often old slights between family members and friends, to comfort the broken-hearted, and to forgive more easily.
“Blessed are the peacemakers” was among Christ’s messages to His followers. Whatever our faith tradition, may we all better serve one another this holiday season, be quick to forgive, and be peacemakers. Let’s challenge ourselves to truly embrace the spirit of living life like it’s our last day.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
