Over the last five years, the Cuyahoga Land Bank has acquired approximately 1,500 vacant and abandoned blighted properties per year. Most properties have come through tax foreclosure.
One might think that foreclosing on abandoned, blighted properties is a simple task. In reality, it is complex and requires careful interaction and cooperation between six Cuyahoga County agencies – Fiscal Office, Treasurer, Prosecutor, Clerk of Courts, Board of Revision (BOR) or the Court of Common Pleas, and the Sheriff’s Office. Collaboration at its best!
