More than 300 of Ohio’s land banking professionals came together in Dayton, Ohio, for the highly anticipated 12th annual 2023 Ohio Land Bank Association Conference in late April. The conference brought together elected officials, land bank professionals, and leading community development practitioners for lively and informative sessions, real-world examples, and inspiring keynotes on Ohio’s land banking world.
The conference featured two-and-a-half days of information and networking activities, including enlightening mobile tours showcasing the extensive planning, infrastructure development and brownfield redevelopment in Dayton’s neighborhoods.
Well-attended conference breakout sessions tackled everything from Turning Tenants into Owners to Financial Best Practices for Land Banks. A shout out to Cuyahoga Land Bank team members who led informative breakout sessions and engaged as panelists throughout the Conference, including Assistant General Counsel Doug Sawyer, who served on panels on the 2023 OLBA Legislative Agenda and Tax Abatement Strategies for Community Development; Kim Kimlin, Director of Community Stabilization, and Jim Maher, Commercial Development Officer, who presented a session titled Demolition: Start to Finish; and Dennis Roberts, Director of Real Estate Development, who was a panelist on the Acquiring REO Properties to Stabilize Neighborhoods session. President and General Counsel Gus Frangos also moderated the Tax Abatement Strategies session.
The Ohio Land Bank Association, Coolidge Wall Legal Professional Association, Cuyahoga Land Bank, Rocket Community Fund, and many other Ohio land banks, partner agencies and vendors sponsored the Conference.
