Honoring All Who Served

“On this Veterans Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free.” – Dan Lipinski

We owe our freedoms to the sacrifices made by our nation’s veterans. Veterans Day is an important day to remember all who served and for showing appreciation to current members of our military and their families. Millions of Americans have fought and died on battlefields here and abroad and today our troops continue to make the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms and way of life.

Here are a few ways we can all honor veterans this Veterans Day.

Say “Thank You” – Express gratitude to an active military member or veteran. Thank a family member, friend, neighbor or colleague who served. Or, take a moment to thank a service man or woman walking down the street dressed in uniform or wearing a hat or other item that indicates military service.

Donate to a Military Charity – With the enormous needs of the military and veteran community, a donation to a charity that provides valuable assistance to our vets and their families makes a wonderful tribute. Find a military charity.

Send a Care Package to Our Troops – Receiving a care package from home can be a real morale booster for deployed service men and women. Sponsor a USO Care Package.

Attend a Local Veteran’s Day Observance – Veteran’s Day parades, ceremonies and military exhibits take place throughout northeast Ohio. Check out a list of local observances.

On this Veterans Day let’s honor our service members and remember the sacrifices they have made and the courage it takes to defend our great country.
