CLEVELAND — Cleveland City Councilman Tony Brancatelli and Cuyahoga County Councilman Dan Brady were unanimously elected as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board of the Cuyahoga County Land Reutilization Corporation Friday, better known as the “Land Bank.”
Brancatelli’s been a councilman six years, representing Slavic Village, the Broadway neighborhood and parts of Old Brooklyn. He has been in the forefront of local efforts to deal with the foreclosure epidemic.
Brady is a former City Councilman, State Senator, State Representative and now represents District 3 on County Council.
The two presented outgoing chairwoman South Euclid Mayor Georgine Welo with a resolution, thanking her for her service.
The board is increasing from seven to nine members.
Three Statutory Directors are the Cuyahoga County Executive , the Cuyahoga County Treasurer and a County Council member.
Two directors will come from Cleveland and four directors will be picked by the Statutory Directors.
The Land Bank Board believes changes will resolve a dispute with Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald about the board’s make-up.
The Land Bank accumulates properties for future community and economic development uses.
